Origin Story

Originating from the Latin umbra (shadow) and the Italian terra d'ombra (earth of shadows), this classic, versatile color is prized by artists.

Umber is known for its strong, dark, earthy tones in art. 

Umber is a fundamental, historical, and highly versatile color in art, providing a range of earthy tones, from light, natural beige to deep, dark brown. 

Our Umber Roast embodies all those properties in a roast profile that are present in Art. Umber is medium roast on the cusp of being a dark roast. Umber has rich earthy notes while not losing the sugars of our higher quality beans that would be lost if it was roasted too dark. Umber is our first speciality roast and will remain a staple in our coffee offered to the public.
